How To Read A Stock Market Chart

By rastid | Jun 27, 2010

It may look like hieroglyphics to you but it is actually a stock market chart. All those numbers and information mean something but what are they? It is easy to read a chart for the stock market when you know what to look for.

In looking at a chart, start by noticing the arrow next to each stock. This is called and indicator and will tell you if a stock is going up or down. The up arrow means it is rising and vice versa. If there is nothing the stock is being consolidated and it is not going up or down.

It is best to watch a stock for trends for twenty to fifty days. This will give you a good indication on how it is moving. You can chart some of your picks and see if they go up or down. This is called a moving average in stock broker terms and a good thing to look for.

When you have watched a particular stock you will see what the price resistance is. This is the typical number that the stock does not go past. When you find this number it will be the solid price of the stock. Watch and see, when you are learning, if you can tell what this number is.

So when you go to buy or sell stock you will have a basic knowledge of what the trend, or behavior, of the stock will be. With this you can have security of knowing you are making a sound investment. Buy with it is low and sell when it is higher to make a profit.

That is the basics on how to read a stock market chart but there are more ins and outs as you become familiar with them. It is a smart gamble to know the trends of a stock before you buy and sell. Otherwise you get slot machine odds and may lose more money than you invest.
